I am seeking a bass player who is interested in playing in a keyboard-based rock / alternative-rock band. The band will be performing a mix of covers and my originals.

The ideal person will be someone who has live playing experience and a basic understanding of music theory (reading lead sheets). We will be playing paid gigs, so professionalism is a must.

If you know anyone who might be interested, feel free to send them my way. My phone number is 770-789-5131 and my email address is marclawson3@gmail.com.

Thanks!
Marc

Friends,

Looks like the CD has finally made it over to iTunes. What a saga that has been. Here is a link if you are interested --> http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/marc-lawson/id334019532

I also wanted to inform everyone that the songwriter show scheduled for 11/17 @ The Cave has been canceled. After the debacle with the show in October, I decided it was best to just pull the plug and be done with it. No reason for another last-minute cancellation.

Oh, I did receive a positive review from Target Audience Magazine :-) Here is a link --> http://www.targetaudiencemagazine.com/uploads/Fall_Reviews2009.php (it's about 1/2 way down the page).

I hope everyone is enjoying the fall weather.

Best,
Marc

Friends,

The CD release show went really well. Thanks so much to everyone who came out. It really means a lot. I had a great time playing with the band and am planning more band shows in the future - stay tuned for details!

Anyway, I wanted to let everyone know about a couple of shows next week…

I’ll be playing at Java Monkey in Decatur on Monday 10/19 with my friend Jordan Gatenby. If you are in the area, stop by and enjoy the Decatur vibe with two aspiring songwriters who have just released their first CD!

On Tuesday 10/20 I'll be hosting another “Songwriters in the Round” show at The Cave in Kennesaw. Last month’s show went really well and I am very excited about what we’re doing this time... I will be joined by friends John Michael Rose and Rufus Ray. Both of these guys are energetic and passionate performers. If you love hearing some gritty voices and blues guitar, you won’t want to miss it!

Best,
Marc

I hope you can make it!

Friends,

I have been asked to start hosting a monthly “Songwriters in the Round” show at a venue called The Cave in Kennesaw. The first show will be on Tuesday, 9/22 and will feature myself, along with friends Julie Gribble and Dustin Barclay.

Julie delivers her songs in a folk-Americana style with gravelly vocals and a powerful stage presence. She has been featured on local Atlanta TV and radio, as well as performed on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.

Dustin is another great local songwriter who hosts the open mic at Johnnie MacCracken’s in Marietta. His insightful and heartfelt songs sound like a blend between classic rocker Tom Petty and alternative rock band Death Cab for Cutie.

I am really looking forward to doing these shows. It’s great to have found a venue that is supportive of local Atlanta music!
-------------------------------------------------------
I have also been working on demo tracks for some new songs. You might have heard me perform some of these songs live recently… If you’d like to listen or download, check out my Reverbnation page and please let me know what you think!
-------------------------------------------------------

Finally, please don’t forget the CD Release Show / Party at Smith’s Olde Bar on Saturday, 10/3... It’s really going to be a great time! I have some great openers lined up and I’ll be playing with full band. I’ll send another update in a couple of weeks with some exciting details.

Best,
Marc

Friends,

I will be playing next Friday, August 21st, at Smith's Olde Bar in the Atlanta Room. This show will be in honor of my friend Keri Puccini's birthday, and will consist of some great live music from up-and-coming songwriters from the southeast.

Rufus Ray, from Marietta, GA will open the evening with his gritty voice and bluesy folk-rock sound.

Shane Meade, from Tampa, FL will follow and bring a blend of light-hearted acoustic soul, folk-pop and rhythm and blues.

Noah Collins, from Chattanooga, TN, is a two-time open mic finalist at Eddie's Attic. He delivers his finger-picking folk and Americana-inspired songs with a very moving performance. Definitely someone to watch!

I have the great privilege of following all these great acts and closing out the night. It should be a great time. Cover is $8, and the music will start at 8pm.

I hope to see you there!

Well, I'm happy to say that I've got the band lined up for the CD release show on 10/3.

· Josh Monroe – Drums
· Josh Reed – Bass guitar
· Jonathan Eftychiou – Electric and acoustic guitars
· Greg Gronholm – Dobro
· Me – Keyboards and lead vocals

These guys are great players and I think it's going to be a killer show. We might even have a surprise guest or two :-)
